2009 West Virginia
Lynn and I went to Marlinton, WV for the first week of August. Marlinton is in Pocahontas County near the Monongahela National Forest, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, several state parks that provided great hiking, and the site of the last major Civil War battle site in West Virginia.
During our week there we had great weather and plenty to do. If our vacation were extended to, say, two weeks, it is not clear I could make that claim.
In addition to the photos in this gallery, there are some panoramas of the West Virginia country side in http://www.alechimwich.com/Other/Panoramas/7091244_MpdwN#476456094_czu6i. These panoramas are perhaps more interesting because of the software I used to create them, AutopanoPro, than for the images themselves.

This is the third of three falls on the Hills Creek Trail in the Cranberry Wilderness Area of the Monongahela National Forest. The brown tint in the water is due to runoff from a heavy rainfall a few hours before this photo was taken.
